Engaged couples often can’t wait until the wedding day. Even though many young couples are overwhelmed with all of the planning that goes into the ceremony and reception, the wedding day still can’t arrive fast enough. Their hearts sprint into marriage.
But once they say “I do,” they find themselves in a very different race. No more sprinting; a marathon has now begun. Those who are truly committed to marriage are in for the long haul. “For better, or for worse” aren’t just words, but promises for a lifetime.
And this marathon isn’t always easy. Some days are filled with joy, but not every day. Many couples know seasons of confusion, frustration, and grief. Some feel like marriage isn’t worth the marathon; they decide it is easier to quite the race than keep running.
However, God -through his Word and through his people- has blessed us with the encouragement we need to run this marathon and run it well. Beginning this fall, Redemption will provide a once-a-month study for couples, called Marriage Matters.
Instead of simply getting together for a weekend marriage seminar, we want to provide a regular time of maintenance and nourishment for the marriages at RBC. Each month, we’ll have an adults-only dinner, followed by time of instruction from God’s Word and discussion with other married couples. Our desire is to get couples together, talking about God’s Word, sharing what they’ve learned along the way, and helping one another see the blessing of the marathon.
We’d love for you and your spouse to join us. If you’d like more information please email us at RBC@redbiblechurch.org.
