Redemption Bible Church is a church plant of Edgewood Bible Church.
In January of 2009, Edgewood Community Church and Valley Bible Church of Sumner joined together to form Edgewood Bible Church. Through the merger, the two churches united to use their resources to better reach the surrounding community and the world with the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Part of this commitment was a desire to plant like-minded churches.A year later, Pastor Ryan Wood and his wife Amy, began to sense God’s call to be sent out as EBC church planters. Ryan had served as an assistant pastor at Valley Bible Church and then at Edgewood Bible Church for 14 years. God has given him a great love for the EBC family and a close relationship with Frank Emrich, EBC’s senior pastor, and the rest of the leadership of the church. Before the call to church planting, Ryan and the leadership assumed he would serve many more years at EBC.
After much prayer and study with Pastor Frank and the rest of the Elders, the leadership set Ryan and Amy apart for the ministry of church planting. They also raised up a team of committed families from Bonney Lake who have joined with the Woods to labor together to plant Redemption Bible Church. In the Spring of 2011, this ‘plant team’ began training. Over the next summer, they held an outreach Bible study called Christianity Explored, as well as launched ministries for both men (Friday Night DIG) and women (Titus 2 Tea). Redemption was incorporated in the Fall of 2011, appointed its first Elders, and began weekly Sunday evening meetings at the Swiss Park in Bonney Lake. On January 8th, 2012, RBC held its first Sunday morning service, meeting at Liberty Ridge Elementary.
Through the lives being impacted in Bonney Lake, it is evident that God is at work in this effort. It is our prayer that our labor does not simply culminate in the planting of one new church in Bonney Lake but in the birth of several new churches throughout Pierce County and around the world.
